Virginia launches fall travel planning website

RICHMOND, Va. - The Virginia Tourism Corporation launched a fall travel planning website to make it easier for groups to enjoy the state’s vivid fall colors. At www.virginia.org/fall, visitors can uncover a plethora of autumn festivals, scenic drives, wineries and other fall events.

One interactive map locates wineries, orchards, corn mazes and festivals using GPS technology, so guests can find the fall experience close to their intended travel destination. Another link gives out weather forecasts so groups can know what to expect on their scheduled tour.

“Fall is a beautiful time to visit Virginia as 15 million acres of foliage burst into color and wineries celebrate the harvest,” said Alisa Bailey, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. “Our online visitors can plan a weekend getaway for two or a trip with the family in just a matter of minutes.”

The website includes small towns’ autumn offerings, with information on nearly 200 wineries, restaurants, shopping opportunities and historic sites. To make sure groups travel the most impressive route from point A to point B, the site also highlights more than 2,500 miles of scenic roads, including the popular Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive.

For more information, visit www.virginia.org/fall or read the PR Web press release.
