Industry veteran Steve Uelner opens new tour company

Steve Uelner

ELM GROVE, Wis. — A familiar face in the tour and travel industry has kept a well-known product line alive by establishing a new tour company. Steve Uelner, who counts more than 25 years of escorted tour experience as head of the former World Wide Country Tours, has opened the doors to Country Travel Discoveries.

Uelner, along with magazine magnate and founder of World Wide Country Tours Roy Reiman, helped grow that company into one of the nation’s premier escorted travel companies. A few years ago, Readers Digest purchased World Wide Country Tours and in late 2011, decided to close the tour company’s doors.

That is when Uelner picked up the ball. The newly created Country Travel Discoveries continues to deliver the style and quality of tour product that Uelner’s past customers have come to expect and offers a full schedule of fully escorted tour programs in the United States and internationally.

The initial catalog offering for 2012 includes some 25 tour programs that focus on the United States, Canada and Europe. They include destinations from the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, N.M., to Old World Christmas markets in Austria and Germany.

The company is developing a group services department to serve the nature and boomer markets.

For information on Country Travel Discoveries, contact Uelner at 855-744-8747 or visit www.countrytraveldiscoveries.com.
