Faith-based travel planners to meet in Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. – Religious group travel planners will meet with members of the travel industry in Joplin, Mo., Aug. 24-26 for networking, sightseeing and social events.
The conference will kick off with an Ice Cream Social to set the relaxed mood of the event.
After a Church Delegate Orientation to inform attendees how to get the most back from the conference, dinner and the opening ceremonies will be hosted by the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The two speakers addressing the conference will be Brian Jewell, editor of Going On Faith magazine, and Cindi Brodhecker, faith-based travel and tourism consultant. Jewell will speak on how to plan a faith-based itinerary with his presentation titled, “Not Just Another Group Tour.” Meanwhile, Brodhecker will discuss other practical information for the religious travel planner in her seminar called, “How to Grow Your Faith-Based Tours.”
The conference will also feature two marketplaces where faith-based planners and industry delegates can meet one-on-one for potential business opportunities. After a sightseeing tour of Joplin, the delegates will gather in Rt. 66 Carousel Park for a barbeque picnic with carousels, Ferris wheels and other nostalgic carnival fun.
Conference organizers recommend flying into the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Bentonville, Ark. A free shuttle service can be arranged from the airport to your hotel by sending travel schedules to tburton@gofconference.com and cgerdes@joplinmo.org. The airport is approximately 60 minutes to and from Joplin.
