2010 Conference Watch

The lineup of conferences in 2010 will enable travel operators and leaders a chance to learn about destinations across continents and right in America’s Heartland, such as the Heartland Travel Showcase in Feb., the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Spring Meet in March, Travel South Showcase and the African American Travel Conference (AATC) in April, and the International POW WOW in May.  Click here to read more 


One charity looks to tourism to aid Haiti

The clean water charity Just A Drop has turned to the travel and tourism industry to aid in delivering critically needed safe drinking water to the people of Haiti. The charity’s program called “Just Help Haiti,” calls for donations to give ongoing support for villages and towns in the country. –Click here to read more

 

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to expand exhibits

The critically-acclaimed exhibition "Family Tradition: The William Family Legacy" drew enough of a crowd that the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum decided to extend its close date from December 31, 2009 to December 31, 2011. Other exhibition changes will include additions and renovations to the museum's core exhibit, "Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music," to be completed in May 2010. –Click here to read more

Winter conferences can sometimes prove tricky when the weather doesn't want to cooperate, as I definitely discovered on my trip to a January conference in the Northwest this year. My troubles began before I even arrived with a heavy fog descending over Denver's airport, forcing me to spend the night there and take off the next morning in a plane so tiny I could see the pilots from my seat. –Click here to read more
